Dear Mrs. Scarboro,

This past summer has been absolutely a great learning experience in my life. You have made realize how difficult it truly is to work with our younger generation and have done an outstanding job with educating and preparing them for their future. First and foremost, I greatly appreciate you offering me a position to help mentor the children at SCYN seeing that I’m only a high school student.

I thought it was a great idea for the kids to be able to ask for advice from older students who were once their age a few years ago as well as adults. Also, I felt that your tutoring curriculum gave the kids who participated this summer in the SCYN program a step ahead of their competition. Covering all core subjects, the kids were able to take away a little bit of knowledge in math, history, science, and English.

The thing that really stood out to me about your program was that you kept in mind the fact that our kids were still kids and should obtain knowledge as well as have fun. The field trips that you planned were above and beyond spectacular. My favorite was the trip to the Newseum. The children were smiling left and right as they were introduced to a fun new environment and learned about our world’s history simultaneously. This past summer was a huge success and the staff you hired was top notch. I am very excited to see what’s in store for next year. Thanks again for the opportunity!
